On September of 1st new Exupery School was opened in Pinki. We also took part in this unusual and interesting project. Our role was to install qualitative, safe and stylish furniture for Physics and Chemistry classrooms. Now pupils can study Physics and Chemistry and not to be afraid of breaking or damaging worktops with reagents or to be poisoned by reagents, because we have installed Asecos reagents safety storage cabinets and Hemling Laborbau Systeme fume cupboard with ventilation system. All worktops are made from chemically and mechanically resistant material Trespa. In the Physics classroom all pupil’s benches are connected to teacher’s table, which allows teacher to control electrical supply during works and fully avoid a risk of the accidents. We are proud that we had this opportunity to take part in this project and we hope that furniture will serve long time to pupils, school, education and Latvia. We have visited an international exhibition Analytica, which took place in Munich. It is one of the world's largest industry international trade fair! Analytica has been a guarantee for the successful presentation of innovative laboratory technology and future-oriented biotechnology for more than 40 years. This year it had a record number of exhibitors: 1,244 companies from 40 countries.
For the first time in our history we organized seminar about laboratory furniture. It was attended by 61 guests. Our team specialists – Vadim Shakel, Maris Zvaigzne and Santa Lagdzina spoke about features in the planning of laboratory, mistakes and standards, showed difference between EN 14175-3 certified fume cupboard and simple one. During the seminar worktop material test with reagents was done. A lot of time was given for the safety in the laboratory. Also chemistry, physics and biology teachers were taught how to plan school laboratories. At the end Asecos Gmbh Representative Mr. Dominik Reuter spoke about fire resistant storage for reagents and showed presentations about right and wrong reagent storages. We hope, that this seminar will help to lab managers to plan labs better, choose material and furniture suppliers and do not forget about safe work environment.
Like every year, this year SIA Saint-Tech organized Foster & Freeman (www.fosterfreeman.com) seminar that was devoted to verification equipment for various protected documents (passports, ID cards, banknotes, etc.). The seminar was led by company's Foster + Freeman equipment specialist Owen Lang from Great Britain. Foster + Freeman seminar was attended by guests from all Latvian security authorities and not only. Workshop gave the opportunity to find out about the latest research methods using the latest document analysis equipment, as well as gave the opportunity to see and work with the demo equipment: portable document analysis unit PD2000 and this year's news product- high-definition document analysis unit VSC8000! Foster + Freeman, a company that is operating for more than 50 years, technological approach to document analyzing is one of the most modern in the world.
On March of 23rd PASCO equipment seminar for chemistry, physics and biology classrooms was hold in Riga. Seminar attended 140 teachers from Latvian schools. Our manager and PASCO product specialist Mg.sc.ing. Santa Lagzdina showed a lot of possibilities of PASCO devices for biology, chemistry and physics and as well a lot of experiments demonstrations were performed using demo equipment. We believe that in near future each Latvian school will be able to purchase new generation PASCO wireless sensors and improve physics, chemistry and biology subject studying quality. We are thankful to all participants. Photos of the seminar are available in our gallery.
